Hugh Van Schaick – Emerging Artist

17 – 22 October
Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre

The Hornsby Shire Emerging Artist Exhibition is delivered through the annual Hornsby Art Prize. It has been specifically created to provide career development and support to an outstanding local artist in the first 5 years of their professional career.

Hugh Van Schaick was awarded the Hornsby Shire Emerging Artist in 2016 for his drawing ‘Quilty’, which won both the Emerging Artist Award and the People’s Choice Award. For this exhibition, Van Schaick has picked up, where he left off with his penetrating portrait of artist, Ben Quilty, producing work that is an intense and honest observation of his self, the people in his life and how they sculpt his world.
